ABYDOS TEMPLE — Egypt's Great Healing Temple
The Temple of Seti I, the Osireion and why this place calls certain souls back
✦ foundation ✦Abydos is one of the oldest sacred sites in the world.
But what I want to share here is not just its history, it's what this place actually does to the soul that enters it with openness. Most people who visit Egypt never make it to this temple. It's out of the way, less known, easy to skip. And perhaps that's exactly as it should be. Because Abydos doesn't call everyone, it calls the ones who are ready. For those who feel that call, Abydos is more than a destination. It is one of the oldest and most powerful spiritual healing retreat sites in the world, and it has been drawing souls back for thousands of years.
Abydos is located in Upper Egypt, west of the Nile, roughly 160km (approx. 100mi) from Luxor. It has been a sacred site and place of pilgrimage for over 6,000 years, and one of the oldest continuously venerated sites in the world. In ancient times, it was the holy city of Osiris, the god of resurrection and the afterlife, and it was the wish of many ancient Egyptians to be buried here, or to make a pilgrimage to this land at least once in their lifetime.
The most significant structure standing today is the Temple of Seti I, built in the 13th century BC by Pharaoh Seti I and completed by his son Ramesses II. Unlike most Egyptian temples built to honor the pharaoh, this one was built with a deeper purpose: it was explicitly designed as an ancient Egyptian healing temple, created to restore balance and heal the suffering of souls.
What Is Abydos Temple
The Egyptian healing energies of this temple, as many visitors still report today, are unlike anything else in Egypt. It contains seven chapels dedicated to Osiris, Isis, Horus, Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Ptah, Thoth and among these, Seti I himself. It also holds the famous Abydos King List, a corridor inscribed with the names of Egypt's pharaohs going all the way back to the first dynasty, one of the most complete historical records of ancient Egyptian kingship ever found.
And then there are the hieroglyphs on the ceiling, the ones that appear, to many eyes, to depict a helicopter, a submarine and other modern vehicles. Archaeologists explain this as overlapping carvings from different periods of construction. But the mystery of what the ancient Egyptians truly knew, and encoded in stone, remains one of Abydos's many unanswered mysteries.
✦ the temple ✦The Temple of Seti I — A Healing Temple Unlike Any Other
Walking through the Temple of Seti I feels different from any other temple in Egypt. The seven chapels that open off the main hall — each dedicated to a different deity — carry distinct frequencies that move through you in ways that are difficult to explain and impossible to predict. What you feel there is yours alone.
The ancient Egyptian healing tradition understood that illness begins in the energy field before it reaches the body. The priests and priestesses of Isis and the other deities who served here were trained to work at that level, with energy, with frequency, with the soul. That knowledge was built into the walls of this temple, and this is still present to this day.
What happens inside the Temple of Seti I is different for everyone. Some feel it immediately, others notice something has changed within them only when they get home and realize they feel different without being able to explain why. Some feel it in their body, some emotionally, some in a way they can't quite put into words. It doesn't work the same way for everybody. But something powerful happens there. That much I know from my own experience as well.
✦ the mystery ✦
Abydos Stargate & The Osireion
Behind the Temple of Seti I sits one of the most mysterious structures in all of Egypt: the Osireion. It is built from massive megalithic stones unlike anything else in the Seti temple. Many researchers believe it predates the temple itself by thousands of years, pointing to a civilization far older than mainstream history acknowledges. Some say it might be as old as the Great Pyramid, and others mention it as the “Atlantean temple structure”.
The Osireion at Abydos sits partially submerged in water that rises perpetually from the ground, from a source that has never been fully identified. Just by standing at its edge and looking down into that ancient flooded space, you can feel a strong energy coming from it.
The original Flower of Life symbol is carved into one of its granite columns. It is one of the most recognized sacred geometric symbols across cultures and traditions worldwide. Finding it here, at Abydos, in what may be one of the oldest structures on Earth, is one of the many things about this place that has no easy explanation.
Many who are sensitive to energy describe Abydos as a stargate, and the Osireion as its heart, a place where the frequency of this land opens something that goes beyond this physical reality. Nothing I have visited in Egypt has felt quite like it.
My Personal Experience at Abydos
I will keep this short because this page is not about me, it is about this sacred temple and what it carries. But I do want to say that when I walked into Abydos for the first time, something in me responded in a way I had not experienced anywhere else in Egypt. Particularly in the chapel of Isis. I can't fully explain what happened there, and I won't try to. What I will say is that it confirmed for me, on a very personal level, a soul memory of having once served here as a priestess of Isis in a previous lifetime.
I am not the only one who has had this kind of experience here. Omm Sety, the British Egyptologist Dorothy Eady, spent the last decades of her life living beside this temple after her own profound soul remembrance of a previous life lived within its walls.
Abydos has a long history of calling certain souls back to remember.
Of all the Egypt spiritual sites I have experienced, nothing has reached me the way Abydos did. And for me, returning in this lifetime with a soul mission to serve this Temple again and to guide others into connecting to its energies, is one of the greatest gifts.
I understood then that what I carry in this lifetime is not something I developed. It is something I am continuing. Abydos was not a discovery. It was a return.
✦ the calling ✦Not everyone who visits Egypt feels drawn to Abydos temple. Many don't even know it exists. But for those who do feel the pull, sometimes years before they ever go, sometimes without being able to explain where it comes from, the experience of finally arriving tends to feel like a return.
There are souls who have a connection to this land that goes beyond curiosity or interest in ancient history. They feel it in their body when they hear the name, or they dream about it. Sometimes they don’t know it’s actually the temple of Abydos that they see in their visions or their dreams. They feel an inexplicable longing for a place they have never been. If that is you, I don't think it's an accident that you found this page.
Abydos has functioned as a spiritual healing retreat site since before recorded history. What draws people here has never really changed, only the language we use to describe it.
Why Abydos Calls Certain Souls
✦ the healing ✦Healing at Abydos — What This Place Offers
The healing this place offers is not easy to categorize. It is not physical in the conventional sense, though people do report physical shifts. It is not purely emotional, though grief and old pain often release here. I can only describe it as working at the level of the soul and the energy field.
What tends to shift here is what has been stuck for a long time, like grief, wounds that any conventional healing couldn’t reach, ancestral weight carried without even knowing it… A sense of disconnection from yourself that you had almost stopped noticing.
Abydos doesn't promise anything. But it has been offering this kind of deep restoration to the souls who find their way here for thousands of years. And in my experience, it rarely disappoints the ones who come with genuine openness.
